I began my college studies at Yeshiva University in New York, but made Aliya to Israel before graduating. After graduating with a B.A. from the Hebrew University in Jerusalem, I began working as a Rehab Social Worker for the National Insurance Institute in Kiryat Gat and Sderot. I completed my M.S.W. at Hebrew University in 1993, and before completing my studies there I spent a semester studying Social and Cultural Foundations in Counseling (Cross Cultural Awareness) in the Department of Psychological Counseling at San Francisco State University. I began working in the Mental Health division of the Israeli Ministry of Health in 1994, where I opened and directed the Holocaust Survivor Home in Beer Yaacov from 2000 to 2008. My last position in the Ministry before I retired was as director of a regional department with 70 social workers employed as therapists and counselors in three hospitals and 7 walk-in clinics. During the first years of my employment in the Ministry I learned and specialized in Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and treated clients in public facilities.
